Children’s and Adult Literacy Tutor opportunities across the Twin Cities and Metro area

Are you looking for some opportunities to gain some experience and leverage your teaching skills? The Minnesota Literacy Council has children’s and adult literacy tutor opportunities across the Twin Cities and metro area. They are able to reach nearly 90,000 children and adults each year thanks in great part to the more than 3,600 volunteers and 115 national service members they train annually.

When people reach their educational goals, their families and communities grow stronger. Volunteers help in many ways, including:

  • Assisting in a classroom
  • Teaching or co-teaching
  • Tutoring one-to-one
  • Administrative Support and Intake Assistant
  • Substitute teaching

The time commitment ranges from 2 to 3 hours per week (same day and time every week). There are a variety of opportunities available throughout the Twin Cities and metro area—and can match you with a program in your neighborhood. Curriculum and materials are provided, and no previous teaching experience or foreign language proficiency required. Training is also provided. Visit their website for more information or contact volunteer@mnliteracy.org to get started with volunteering.
