Gender Equity in STEM and CTE

We are looking for teachers who would be interested in leading their colleagues in improving their use use of gender equitable teaching strategies in their CTE or STEM courses. This “train the trainer” opportunity is available to secondary teachers in Minnesota who would help recruit ten participants from your district or region to participate in your group.

Our previous research has found significant improvements in studetns’ STEM identity when teachers participate in this professional development or graduate coursework.

Participants receive a stipend and free credit hours or very reduced cost graduate credits. Want to learn more?

The strategies are very accessible, and require incremental shifts in practice leading to improved outcomes for female students and students from marginalized backgrounds. In particular, our research has demonstrated the efficacy of simply integrating near-peer role models across the curriculum.
